Standards: Why Do We Care? Presenting yourself as a competent, experienced legal nurse consultant? How does the LNC verify self, competence, experience? The LNC CV with education, experience etc. Do you mention knowledgeable adherence to Standards of Care? If not, why not? Not using Standards of Care? I doubt it. 

We all use someone's Standards. Of course, Standards verify the competence and completeness of your work and the most often used are the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultant standards. 

What do Standards do for the LNC? 1) Set expectations of LNC performance 2) Measure LNC performance 3) Verify processes used 4) Provide a measure of LNC professional behavior and work ethics Each LNC needs a copy of the AALNC "Legal Nurse Consulting Scope and Standards of Practice".
